Se analizó la bibliografía y los registros de peces capturados en el área litoral costera bonaerense y uruguaya durante 33 campañas de investigación para elaborar el primer inventario de peces de la región. Se registró un total de 147 especies pertenecientes a 71 familias que representan el 48% de los peces reportados para la Zona Común de Pesca Argentino-Uruguaya y el 37% de las especies marinas citadas para el Atlántico Sudoccidental. La lista de peces costeros marinos de Uruguay y norte de Argentina es el primer esfuerzo que se realiza para proporcionar información básica que permita evaluar posibles cambios temporales en la composición de la fauna de peces en el área. Dichas listas o inventarios constituyen una herramienta esencial para la administración de pesquerías, la generación de datos estadísticos y recopilación de información útiles para la evaluación de recursos.

Ichthyic inventory of the Buenos Aires and Uruguay coastal littoral. The bibliography and the registries of fish caught in the Buenos Aires and Uruguay coastal littoral area during 33 research cruises were analyzed to elaborate the first ichthyic inventory of the region. A total of 147 species belonging to 71 families was registered. The figure represents 48% of the specimens reported for the Argentine-Uruguayan Common Fishing Zone and 37% of the marine species mentioned for the Southwest Atlantic. The list of coastal marine fishes of Uruguay and north of Argentina is the first attempt to provide basic information to evaluate possible temporal changes of the ichthyic composition in the area. Said lists or inventories constitute an essential tool for fisheries management, the generation of statistic data and gathering of information useful for resource assessment.
